Obituary:
Avirell “Buddy” Miller Lawson, Jr., age 69, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2017. Visitation will be Thursday, March 23rd from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Spry~Williams Funeral Home of Florence. The service will be Friday, March 24th at First Baptist Church of Center Star at 3:00 pm with Brother Ronny Jones and Brother Erik Hunt officiating. He will lie-in-state at the church from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Burial will be at Colbert Memorial Gardens. Buddy was a native of Maryville, Tennessee, having lived in Town Creek for over 30 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in Vietnam as a Sgt. E5. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Center Star and was retired from Champion/International Paper after 40 years of service in Maintenance. He loved his job and co-workers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Avirell M. “Bud” and Ova Lawson. Survivors are his wife, Charlotte “Charley” Lawson; sons, Paul Anthony Lawson (Rena) and John Miller Lawson (Jordyn); sisters, Joyce Hood, Debbie Collins, and Cynthia “Simpy” Ridings; brothers, Charles Lawson and Dewey Lawson; Several nieces and nephews. A great joy in his life was hunting and fishing. He enjoyed life to the fullest and loved his wife and children. Buddy always had a smile for everyone and touched so many lives in an inspiring way. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Center Star Building Fund.
