William John "Jack" Zenik
December 27th, 1930 - February 8th, 2018
William John “Jack” Zenik, age 87, of Florence, passed away February 8, 2018. Visitation will be Monday, February 12, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Scott Coats and Rev. Wayne Williams officiating. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Jack was born in Granite City, Illinois on December 27, 1930, the youngest son of Frank and Florence Zenik. He graduated from the University of Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy with a BS in Metallurgical Engineering.
He served in the US Army during the Korean War. After his military service he worked at Reynolds Alloys until his retirement 1991, serving as Chief Metallurgist for final17 years.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 50 years, Jackye Faye Floyd Zenik and an older sister, Mary Lois “Moe” Zenik Kraus. He is survived by his loving big brother, Edward Harris “Buzz” Zenik; special nephew, Jeff Buchanan and Jeff’s children, Will and Sara Buchanan; nieces, Cathy Ann Zenik Reimers and Christie Lynn Zenik Tucker; nephews, Timothy Edward Zenik, Chuck Kraus, Darryl Kraus and John Kraus; and numerous great nieces and nephews; in addition to many loving family members on his wife’s side.
Jack loved the State of Alabama and enjoyed time at his lake house with friends and family, as he was an avid lover of being on the water.
The family would like to express their appreciation to special neighbors, John and Susan Moseley, and to the staffs of Cedar View Assisted Living and Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home for their wonderful love and care.
