Bruce Gary Thorn, 67, was promoted to his heavenly home March 8, 2021. Visitation will be Saturday at Faith Church, Florence, from 11 a.m.-1:00 p.m. with a celebration service following. Officiating at the service will be Ronny Poag, Brother Henry Melton, and Parke Crisler. Special music provided by Duane Allen, Shawn Lombard, and Cindy Richardson Walker. Burial is at Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield, with Williams Funeral Home assisting.
He was preceded in death by parents, Luther and Maxine (Bragwell) Thorn, Russellville. He is survived by his wife, Anna, and son, Elliot, (Laura); grandchildren, Anna Catherine and Oliver; sister, Bonnie V. Duckworth; brother, Charles Vinson.
Bruce was a graduate of Russellville High School and UNA. He was completing 40 years of employment with AT&T. He had a love for God, family, music and Alabama football. He was one of the pioneers in the ‘90’s, in establishing Promise Keepers, a Christian organization encouraging men, in N.W. Alabama.
Serving as a pallbearers are Matthew Stansell, Gary Devaney, Mike Miller, Jimmy Bone, Adam Casey, Anthony Moody, Will McFarlane, Alan Bragwell, Josh Holder, Eric Green, Brandon Bone, Austin Stansell, Ethan Stansell, Charles Vinson, Jimmy Bragwell, Milton Boyd, Roger Boyd, Mac McAnally, Dr. Ray Pritchard, Phil Newton, Caleb Box and Brian Lindsey.

Worked with Bruce at Bellsouth. He was always happy with a smile on his face. A joy to be around. So sorry for your loss. We have been praying for God to comfort his family.
Enjoyed working with Bruce at AT&T. He was one of the kindest people I know. His smile and humor will be truly missed,
Anna & Elliott my heart is broken for your loss. Bruce was one of the sweetest guy I have ever known. He was kind and caring for everyone he met. Having know Bruce from family, school and as a friend, I can say, he was a special, sweet person. May you be comforted, knowing, God has welcomed him home.

I played pickup basketball with Bruce for several years. He was a first class person.
Anna and Family, although I never had the pleasure of meeting Bruce in person I worked with him for a few years remotely here at AT&T. There was never a time he wasn’t pleasant and kind. He always spoke very fondly of you Anna and he enjoyed talking about his grandkids. My sincerest condolences to you all. Bruce will truly be missed. Blessings to you all.
May God comfort you guys Anna and Elliot during this time. I remember Mr Thorn from York Terreace and the times My mom and I visited your home. A great Christian man.
