July 26, 1952 - August 4, 2021
Sherry Turner Gooch, age 69, of Florence, passed away August 4, 2021, after a brief illness at NAMC with her family at her side.
She was born on July 26, 1952, in Iuka, MS. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie Gooch, whom she loved unconditionally for 39 wonderful years; parents, Carel Dean and Doris Simpson; sister, Carolyn Ann Simpson; mother-in-law, Macil Gooch; father-in-law, Ralph Gooch; and brothers-in-law, Larry Gooch, Randall Gooch and Timmy Gooch; and sister-in-law, Linda Skipworth.
She is survived by her children, Michael Pounders and Sonia Tittle (Brandon); grandsons, Darren, Corey and Matthew Pounders, and Cody and Cole Tittle; granddaughters-in-law, Allison, Crystal, Ashlynn, Morgan, Millie and Lydia; great-grandchildren, Sam, Mailee, Madeline, Thaddeus, Madelyn, Brylee, and Ali; brothers, Jerry Taylor, Jimmy Simpson, Larry Simpson and Timmy Simpson; brothers-in-law, Jerry Gooch, Gary Smith, Homer Liles, Doyle Risner and David Skipworth; sisters-in-law, Jamie Taylor, Connie Simpson, Janet Risner, Kathy Smith, Sharon White, Sandra Gooch, Marcie Liles and Marsha Gooch; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Sherry graduated from Cherokee High School and Shoals Community College. She was a nurse for many years at ECM Hospital and Cypress Cove. After retiring, she decided she couldn’t give up nursing just yet. She was currently working at Keller Landing in Tuscumbia. She cared deeply for her patients and was often overworked because she could not say no. She was a MawMaw to every child that visited her house. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved to paint, sew, and make flower arrangements. The one thing she didn’t do was cook. She would tell you she couldn’t cook anything except drop biscuits and lasagna.

So sorry for your loss prayers for you guys for the next coming days , good bless you
She was a wonderful and caring person. She did love her residents. I will miss all the good times we had at work. Made the nights go by faster. She made sure I got to the hospital when I could barely stand. Although they would be short staffed, she made sure my son, who also worked with us take me to the hospital and she worked for me. She also taught me how to make hash. Sherry and I love to eat. I will miss her dearly but know she is still watching over me. Love and prayers to the whole family ❤️.
