Geneva Richardson passed away Saturday, February 11, 2023, at the age of 90. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 14, 10:00 – 11:00 am at Williams Funeral Home with a graveside immediately following at Richardson Chapel Cemetery.
Born January 25, 1933, to parents, Walter Gentry and Mary Elsie Benefield Wilson. She was the oldest of two children. At the age of eighteen, he twenty-six she married Henry (Hobson) Richardson in 1951. Together they had five children and thirty-nine years of marriage before his death in 1990.
Geneva and Hob ran Veterans Sandwich Shop from their residence on South Broadway Street from 1951 – 1971. In 1961, Geneva went to work for Colonial Manor Hospital on Cloyd Blvd. in Florence as a nurses aid. She worked the 3-11 shift for thirty-two years before her retirement. Geneva (Granny) loved to work in her yard and had a very green thumb. She could grow anything. She loved to mortar rocks together to make flower beds. Her yard still has several of those beds as evidence of her love for piddling in her yard. She also collected dolls over the years and has several to leave her grandkids. She was affectionately known as (Granny) to all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by children; Sherra Randolph, Danny Richardson (Brenda), Landel Richardson, Terry Richardson, Lynn Presley; sister-in-law, Janell Wilson; eight grandchildren, Christie Richardson Spielmann (John), Todd Richardson, Rusty Randolph (Rebecca), Jason Randolph (Michelle), Jeffrey Richardson (Meagan), Jeremiah Richardson (Holly), Nick Richardson (Morgan), and Dakota Santucci (Vinny). Additional survivors include twelve great-grandchildren, Ariel, Allison, Anna, Hayley, Haylen, Peyton, Cale, Everett, Chloe, Emma, Gunner, and Evelyn.
Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, granddaughter, Chelsie Richardson and sons-in-law, Richard Randolph and Phil Presley.
