Charles Thomas Robbins, 66, of Florence passed away Monday, February 20, 2023 surrounded by people who loved him. Charles attended Coffee High School and was a member of Sheetmetal Local #48 for many years. He retired from Pettus Mechanical after a long career. Charles was a member of Magnolia Church of Christ.
Charles was a gentle, kind, and loving man with many talents. Those who knew Charles best remember his sweet, generous spirit and love of all animals. Charles was deeply invested in all University of Alabama sports, but especially football. Charles was also known for his absolute love and devotion to his high school sweetheart, soulmate, and wife of 47 years, Sharon Canerday Robbins.
He is also survived by his special sister-in-love Tami Canerday Dolan, his sister Donna Allen Palmer, three nieces Ashlee Dolan Cooper (K.C), Kim Allen Crosslin (Doyle), Tracy Allen Greer (Robert), one nephew Jaye Dolan, and Father in law Reed Canerday (Sue). He had 3 very special great nieces, Sophia, Willow, and Joy Abigail Cooper along with many other special family members who loved him dearly. Charles will be truly missed by his Pomeranian pal Bailey who has stayed by his side throughout his illness. Charles was a good father to Russ Robbins and an ever-devoted “Pop” to his grandchildren Emma and Grant.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Evelyn Robbins, his mother-in-law Betty Forsythe Canerday and niece Gina Allen Moore.
A celebration of life will be held at Williams Funeral Home on Sunday February 26, 2023. Visitation will be from 1-3:00pm with service at 3:00.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Keith Garrett, Tommy Rickard, Jaye Dolan, John Martin, Robert Greer, Norman Leir, Corey Murks, Brad Black, Eddie Garner, Brad Lawson, K.C. Cooper and Gary Erwin.
Sharon would like to give a very special thanks to Tami Dolan and Cheri Kasmeier for their devoted love and care for Charles during his illness. Also, a special thanks to Stephanie Clemmons, Lindsey Riedout, Jenny Skipworth and all the caring and compassionate staff at Hospice of North Alabama.
The strength and grace Charles showed while battling his disease has been an example to all of us. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to ALS of Alabama Foundation in honor of our hero Charles Robbins. Online donations can be made at Donate to The ALS Association.
