March 24, 1944 - May 5, 2023

Charles Webster Young, age 79, of Florence, passed away May 5, 2023.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 9, from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home.  A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Greenview Memorial Gardens, with Max Borah officiating.

Mr. Young was preceded in death by his parents, George W. Young and Margaret Wilson Young, along with his wife, Sue Kelly Young.

He is survived by his loving wife Barbara “Sissy” Blanke Young; sons, Tracy Young and Jayme Young (Dawn); daughters, Denise Herring (Jeff) and Jackie Baker (Jeff); step-sons, Todd White and Lee White (Addie); four grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Young was a member of IBEW Local 558,  Elks Lodge, and a retired electrician with Reynolds Metals.

Pallbearers will be Zach Young, Will Young, Wayne Dickey, Billy Dickey, Billy Willard and Troy Skipworth.

The family would like to thank Shoals Hospice, caregivers, Shelia Sharp, Amy Sharp and special caregiver, Marie Uhlman for their loving and compassionate care.  A heartfelt thank you to friends, Linda Bostick, Pat Walton and Tammy Highfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital.

  6. My name is Jim Murphy. I was Charlies apprentice during the last sages of building the Cortland Paper Mill, he treated me like was a journeyman. In later years we worked together at RETNOLDS and he worked for me when I was a Forman. It was always a pleasure to see Charlies coming, I knew that was one election that would do his job/
    I am so sorry for your loss, I know he will be missed. We live in Cherokee and do not get the paper so i just found put today about his passing.
