John Louis Riedel, age 82, of Florence, passed away September 9, 2023. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 13 from 12:30 – 2:00 pm at Williams Funeral Home with funeral immediately following and Pastor Chad Hess officiating. Masonic Rites will be held in Greenview Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Riedel is preceded in death by his parents, Irene and LA (Louis) Riedel; in-laws, Harold and Billie Jo Darby; and sister, Patsy Riedel Hunt.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-two years, Grace Darby Riedel; children, John Blair Riedel (Julie), and Harold Parrish Riedel (Susan). Additional survivors include grandchildren, Hudson Riedel, Virginia Riedel Hellmann (Jack), Julia Riedel, and Ella Grace Riedel; and great-granddaughter, Mary Charles Hellmann.
Mr. Riedel was an active member of Woodmont Baptist Church and Pairs and Spares Sunday school class. He was a past Master Florence Masonic Lodge #14, 32nd Degree Mason, Member UAW Local 255, Florence Jaycees, Florence Tree Commission, and a graduate of Deshler High School.
Serving as pallbearers are Hudson Riedel, Jack Hellmann, Trey Starkey, Owen Lilly, III., David Armstrong, and Mike Mashburn. Honorary pallbearers are Kevin McDaniel, Dr. John Young, Don Threet, Gary Stephens, Myron Gardner, Sam Gargis, Bill Inskeep, Mike Ashcraft, John NeSmith, Ben Scoggin, James D. Wilson, and Billy Baggett.
The family request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to your favorite charity. Special thanks to the Florence police department and Florence paramedics.
