Jewel Dean Michael Wesson, age 87, of Florence passed away on September 14, 2023 and loving husband of 66 years  Chester Eugene “Gene” Wesson passed away on September 19, 2023. Visitation for Dean and Gene is on Saturday, September 23rd from 10:00 till 11:00 am at Williams Funeral Home of Florence. The service will follow at 11:00 am in the chapel with Brother John Brock officiating. Entombment will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers  will be Cade Marino, Danny Wood, Greg Putnam, Mark Nelson, Chuck Tash, and Ryan Tyler. Honorary pallbearer will be Chuck Kelley.

Dean was preceded in death by her parents, John N. and Florence Smith Michael; sisters, Lessie Michael, Lorene Michael McKelvey, Elaine Cottles, and Sue Nunley; brothers, Almon Michael, Sonny Michael, and Leo Michael.

She is survived by her loving niece, Carey Wood (Danny) who they adored and cherished like a daughter, and a precious grandson Cade Marino; sister, Ruby Hennessee (Horace) and a host of friends who loved them dearly.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Robert D. and Evelyn Hanback Wesson; brothers, Loyd Hanback and Bobby Wesson; sister, Barbara Sykes.

He is also survived by his loving niece, Carey Wood (Danny) who they adored and cherished like a daughter, and a precious grandson, Cade Marino. Brothers, Leon Wesson (Dee), Harold Wesson (Jeanette), and Gerald Wesson and a host of friends who loved them dearly.

Dean was retired with T.J’s Manufactory and was a great seamstress and was a member of Highland Baptist Church and Kingdom Seekers Sunday School Class. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed traveling with friends, gardening, shopping, and working in her flower garden beds. She loved their loving pet “Teddie”.

Gene was a U.S. Army Veteran during the Korean War and a member of Highland Baptist Church and Kingdom Seekers Sunday School Class and was retired with National Linen in sales.
He was a volunteer firefighter with the Petersville Fire department and was a Taxidermist at night and on weekends. He loved to travel with his friends, work in his yard, and enjoyed a good laugh.  Gene also loved their pet “Teddie”. In-lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children Hospital. A special thanks to Preferred Hospice and to Bessie Lovelace caregiver who cared for Dean and CVICU #2200 at NAMC. A special thanks to all the doctors and nurses for their love and care.   2. My deepest sympathy and prayers for peace from Pennsylvania. I got to know Jewel Dean and Gene through my aunt and always went to see them when I would come to Alabama. I cherish the hot pads that Jewel Dean made me and think of her every time I use them, she and Gene were just wonderful humans. I will miss them on my trips south.
