Samuel Riley Skelton, age 31, of Huntsville, formerly of Killen, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023. A memorial visitation will be Monday, October 16th from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Williams Funeral Home of Florence.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Preston Carroll Skelton; maternal grandmother, Anna McKay.
Survivors are his loving parents, Glenn and Cecile Skelton; paternal grandmother, Janice Gill; maternal grandfather, James McKay; son, Easton Skelton; sister, Sarah Battles (Brett); niece Ava Battles; nephew, John Sawyer Battles.
Sam was a 2010 graduate of Brooks High School where he excelled as an athlete and was selected as a State Honorable Mention Football Player. He went on to serve his country as a proud Marine and was an expert rifleman and a combat veteran and also served 2 tours in Afghanistan. Sam was currently employed with Yellow Hammer Roofing as a salesman.
In-lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.

I am so sad to hear about Sam. Sam & our son Hunter grew up together and anytime I ran into Sam, as recently as a month ago, he always had a smile for me. My prayers for the family.
I am so sorry for your loss. He and my son Colby Hargett were friends at Brooks Elementary. Colby loved being with Sam and your family. Colby has been gone for eight years already I still miss him so much. I will be praying for yall. Maybe they will reconnect in heaven they will have each other along with Colbys dad.
I would just like to say that I didn’t really know Sam that well I had just met him but he really impacted my life in a major way. He was there for me when nobody else was and he didn’t even know me and I will forever be grateful for the few memories I have of him May he rest in peace..
Sam, we hold you in our heart.
I promise to be the best mother I can be to our son. I will to be a great teacher for him and raise him well to prepare him for his walk on earth. I will continue to teach him of the love the Lord has for all the humans. Thank you for loving our boy.
I will always pray for him and your family. He will miss you, as well as all who knew you. Rest peacefully.
