Ray Lynwood Carpenter, Jr., age 73, of Florence, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024. Visitation will be Sunday, March 17th from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Williams Funeral Home of Florence. The service will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Brother Gregg Elrod and Austin Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Ray Carpenter III, Tycer Carpenter, Gage Frost, Scott Durham, Travis Ticer, and Brian McManus. Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Hanback, Phillip King, Bill Hames, and David Schmidt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lynwood and Rose Carpenter; special niece, Hannah Carpenter.
Survivors are his wife, Pat Carpenter; children Ray L. Carpenter III, (Mary) and Rachel Frost; brothers, Frank Carpenter (Paula) and Floyd Carpenter (Libby); sisters, Nancy Mitchell and Susan Hines (Harold); grandchildren, Gage Frost, Ayrial Carpenter, Layla Frost, and Tycer Carpenter; uncle, Frank Carpenter (Shirley); 17 nieces and nephews.
Ray was a member of Florence Blvd Church of Christ. He worked faithfully in World Bible School. His greatest accomplishment was his family. He served in the U.S. Army from 1969 till 1972, volunteering to serve in Vietnam. He loved his country and served his country with honor.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Wounded Warriors. A special thanks to nurses at NAMC and Aveanna Hospice for their love and care.

Ray will be missed by many and will be well remembered as a great man who held god, family, friends and his country as a top priority. Ray and I talked Bass fishing all the time and I know the outdoors was a special place for him. Till we meet again Cousin Ray RIP and find the bass before I get there.
