Maria West
Williard

September 30, 1953 - May 18, 2024

Maria L. Willard, 70, of Florence, passed away May 18, 2024, at Mitchell Hollingsworth. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at Lee Heights Baptist Church in Florence, with Brother Chris Aday officiating.

Maria was born in Savannah Georgia, and later moved to Alabama, where her father served in the Air Force. She was a member of Lee Heights Baptist Church and deeply loved the Lord. Maria worked for many years at Kmart. She loved cooking, reading books, and spending time with her cats. Sometimes life’s troubles would weigh her down. However, once she decided to make the greatest decision of all to give her heart to Jesus, she knew, God was completely in control of her life, or any problems that she faced.

Maria’s mind and body have now been restored, and what a great homecoming she is having with Jesus! John 15:13 says “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” (KJV). Maria was a great friend to all who knew her and a joy to be around. Maria will be missed, but as Christians, there is great joy and assurance, in knowing that we will be reunited in Heaven one day with our beloved Maria.

A special thank you to Suzanne, Lisa, and all the staff and nurses from the third station unit at Mitchell Hollingworth, and to Preferred Hospice, in Florence. Thank you all, for showing Maria such great, love, compassion, and care.

Maria is preceded in death by her beloved parents Mr. and Mrs. West and her beloved fiancé Robert Eddy Magouyrk.

She is survived by her son, Thomas Willard. best friend, Kristie Evans and dear friends.

  1. I will always cherish my friendship with Maria. Sometimes life’s troubles would weigh her down. However, once she decided to make the greatest decision of all, to give her heart to the good Lord, she knew God was completely in control of her life or any problems that she faced. Her mind and body have been restored and what a great homecoming she is having with Jesus! Her favorite hymn was, “How Great Thou Art.” Her last words were, ” I am dancing with the angels.” Maria is finally at peace and home with Jesus. Love you always, sweet Lady! See you again, in Heaven someday! “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder, I’ll be there!”
    Love Always,

    Kristie
