Vicki Lynn May, age 69, of Birmingham, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024. Visitation will be Sunday, July 7th from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at Williams Funeral Home of Florence. The service will follow at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. A reception will immediately follow from 2:00 till 4:00 pm at 211 Underwood School Road Florence, Alabama 35630. A graveside service will be that evening at 5:00 pm at Mount Hope Methodist Community Cemetery,7871 County Road 23, Mount Hope, Alabama 35651. Pallbearers will be William K. “Chip” Bradford, Rusty Norris, Bradley Ellis, Tanner Aday, Jelby Aday, Jayden Aday, and Kenneth Maddox.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. May, Jr; parents, James and Susie Jones; brother, Glenn Alan Musgrove; grandson, Abraham Rosenberg; stepson, Chris Leatherwood.
Survivors are her children, Amber Ladner (William K. ‘Chip” Bradford), Jennifer May, and Emily May; sister, Debbie Holland; grandchildren, Catherine Ladner (Hannah Davis), Sarah Belle Ladner, Eli Doss, and Riley Doss; niece, Terri Norris (Rusty) and their children, Haley, Kandace, and RJ.
Vicki worked with Liberty National Insurance company from 1976 till 1987. She Volunteered as a Navy Ombudsman from 1992 till 2003, Navy and Marine Corp. Society from 1995 till 2000, Harrison Central High School Band from 1991 till 1994. She also worked as a teacher’s aid with special need kids from 1989 till 1992. She played softball for 1 year on a Navy wife’s team and was homemaker from 1987 till her death. Vicki never met a stranger. She loved her grandchildren and may not have had much, but she would help someone in need any way that she could. She loved crosswords, word search, and all kinds of word puzzles and games, loved movies and shows with Chuck Norris, and music by George Strait. She loved her husband, Jim, and during their later years together, she spent all of her time with him, especially after he was diagnosed with prostate cancer.
A special thanks to Joey Williams for all of his assistance with getting our mother from Ohio to Alabama and with planning her services. Thank you to Amity Parker and Emily May for making our mother look beautiful for this special day. Thank you to Jennifer May for taking care of our mother during her last few years of life. Thank you to Amber Ladner for planning and organizing the tribute video and planning the service. Thank you to all our family and friends that have sent their love, prayers, and coming to mother’s service.
