Samuel Glenn Butler, age 84, of Cypress Inn, Tennessee passed away July 9, 2024. Visitation will be Friday, July 12th at Williams Funeral Home in Florence from 10:00 – 11:00 am with the service starting at 11:00 am, and Brother David Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in Butler cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Carroll Butler and Mildred Gertrude Trousdale Butler; daughter, Heather Dawn Butler Lindberg; siblings, Mildred Butler Davis, James Oliver Butler; and Bobby Wayne Butler.
Mr. Butler is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Eileen Virginia Schneider Butler; children, Erin Lisa Butler Simmons and Jared Glenn Butler. Additional survivors include siblings, Peggy Butler Rutledge, Roy Carroll Butler, Emma Arlene Butler Davis, Deborah Montgomery, and Neil Jason Butler; grandchildren, Keisha Nicole Simmons, Laressa M. King, Shaun David Simmons, Ronald Lamar Simmons III., Eleanor Lois Simmons, Joshua Glenn Lindberg, Christopher Michael Lindberg, Lachlan Craig Butler, and Maren Heather Butler; and great-grandson, Nijah King.
Mr. Butler retired from the Navy after serving twenty-eight years. He was a member of Collinwood 1st Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed restoring old cars, taking care of rescue dogs, and going to the YMCA.

My condolences to the Butler Family. I wish you peace and love in your time of need.
Sam was my best friend. He was like a big brother to me. When I reported to the USS Sierra in 1975, he took me “under his wing” and welcomed me aboard. Sam had a curious intellect, was extremely hard working and cherished his relationship with God and with his family. In our lives, in our joys and in our sorrows, we’ve learned that there is a time for every matter under heaven. We laugh and we weep. We celebrate and we mourn. With God’s amazing grace we somehow bear what seems unbearable. “Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.” Our priceless memories of and our enduring love for brother Sam will sustain us. Sam, I know that you were greeted with “Well done, my good and faithful servant” when you arrived in Heaven. RIP, brother Sam.
