Robert Leroy Nelson, age 84 of Florence, passed away on October 10, 2024. Memorial services will be held privately. Williams Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
He was preceded by his parents Mark and Elizabeth Nelson and one brother, Richard “Dicky” John Easterwood.
Robert is survived by his son, Barry Nelson (Melissa), his grandson Austin Nelson (Rebekah), one stepdaughter, Tina Skipworth (Jamie), one sister, Janie Roberts (Chris) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. As well as his beloved dog, Angel.
Robert was a member of the First Assembly of God church of Florence. He was a special Ed teacher in Texas for 35 years. He also proudly served our nation for six years in the United States Air Force.
The family would like to acknowledge their gratitude to Glenwood Rehabilitation Center’s staff, nurses and doctors. They would also like to express a very heartfelt thank you to Mickey Hines and Lonnie Hayes for always making sure Robert always made it to church.
