Edgar E. Shirley, Jr., age 91, of Muscle Shoals, passed away on October 8, 2024.

During his last few years, he was lovingly cared for by his granddaughter and her family – Crystal, Brad, and Emma.

They would like to thank the wonderful caregivers and staff at Cottage of the Shoals. They made the last 5 months possible for Edgar and his family.

From his great-granddaughter, Emma – He was always one to give everyone grief, but turn right back around two minutes later and ask for updates on how everything was going. He constantly checked in on me, school, and how my job search was going. He was quick on his feet and as hardheaded as they come. Wherever he went, everyone knew him by name…whether at Jack’s (double egg and sausage biscuit with a senior coffee; he could tell you the price down to the cent and the employees knew his order without even asking), at Garden Gate (same booth, every time), the bank, and, more recently, at the nursing home. He had everyone he met wrapped around his finger and he is leaving so many broken hearts behind, but he was ready. He will be deeply missed.

Mr. Shirley is survived by 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
