Robert Frank
Marks, Jr.
September 5, 1946 - January 29, 2025
Robert Frank Marks, Jr., 78, of Florence, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 29, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A memorial visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, at Williams Funeral Home in Florence.
Bob was the son of the late Robert and Anne (McMurdo) Marks of Monroeville, Pennsylvania and was preceded in death by his son, Zachary, of Florence, Alabama.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Debra; children Scott (Sheilah) Marks of Shawnee, Kansas, daughter Alyssa (Dylan) Sutherland of Florence, Alabama, granddaughter Addison Marks of Cherokee, Alabama, and grandson Anthony Marks of Shawnee, Kansas.
Bob retired from TVA Browns Ferry after spending his career in Project Management. In his expansive career in various electric and nuclear power plants across the country, Bob gained a wealth of knowledge that made him a source of wisdom for those currently in the industry. In his early years, he became a co-patent holder for a high voltage stator coil insulation process still used today. As recently as last fall, he was consulted regarding his knowledge of the inner workings of nuclear-powered generators.
Bob loved his family immensely and found untold pleasure in staying in touch with siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, lifelong friends from “The Burg” and work cohorts, and he especially loved planning get togethers and trips in order to bring people together to visit and enjoy each other’s company. He was never happier than when he had the opportunity to treat those he loved to something special and be there to watch them enjoy it. Bob had a contagious laugh, a knack for story-telling and a penchant for offering sound advice, and his kindness and care will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, it would please Bob greatly for donations to be made to Samaritan’s Purse for USA disaster victims or Presbyterian Home for Children.
God bless all of you who prayed for Bob during the past few years. He loved you all and appreciated every thought and prayer sent up on his behalf.
