LaWanda Jo
Hill

June 23, 1943 - April 11, 2026

LaWanda “Jo” Hill, born June 23, 1943, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at El Reposo Nursing Home, where she entered the arms of Jesus and received her new, glorified body and mind. Jo was a special needs child born to Marcus and Willie Mae Hill who preceded her death. Jo is survived by her sister Alice H Carter from Florence. Jo was always a very loving and cheerful girl who never met a stranger. Just to be around Jo brought you a sense of joy. She always loved being around babies and would always ask about “how many babies you had?” Alice would like to thank God for the staff at El Reposo Nursing Home with all her heart for the loving care that they gave to her sister, Jo during the time she was there in their care. Also special thanks to Glen and Joyce Jones.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 15 at noon at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.

  1. Alice, I am so sorry to learn of Jo’s transitioning. I loved me some Jo Hill (and Miss Willie Mae) . Without knowing it, she got me through some tough days at work. Her comedic comments would have me in stitches. I’m grateful to God that our paths crossed over 34 years ago.
Jo, take your rest sweetheart . Your work down here is done.
    Love always,
    Linda Lewis

  2. I think little Jo Jo was the most loved resident we have ever had. She is all ready missed by all the girls and one guy on the floor. We all become family. Its so hard to say good by. II Corinthians 5 and 8. We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from this body, and to be present with the Lord.

  3. Alice I didn’t get to meet JoJo but she sounds like a loving sweet person to be around. Special needs people are most always the most loving, honest, appreciative people in this world. I know you will miss her terribly but God is taking care of her now. Sending you heart felt prayers for healing. You will always miss her as I miss my sister but the acceptance of the loss does get easier. I believe she still feels your love and waiting for you and she’s with those loved ones who have gone on before.
