Sharon Furgerson King White departed this life for her heavenly home on Monday, August 24, 2026, at the home of her son, Doug White, in Rome, Georgia. Sharon was born in Florence, Alabama, on August 14th, 1946. 

Sharon is preceded in death by her husband, 1st Lieutenant Robert H. King, an infant son, and her parents, Billy and Margaret Furgerson.

Sharon is survived by her long-time dear friend, Elvis Larkin, and son Douglas R. White Jr (Chris). Sisters: Becky Ford (Jim), Pat Marlin (Bob), and one brother, Britt Furgerson (Paula). Granddaughters: Lianna and Lauren Rogers, and one grandson, Douglas Charles White, who is her pride and joy.

Sharon graduated from Coffee High School in Florence, Alabama, as well as the University of North Alabama. She worked as a dental hygienist before receiving her degree in Computer Programming.

Sharon began her career as a Computer Programmer working for UCSI, Computer Science Corporation, Intergraph, Boeing, and Lockheed Martin, all in Huntsville, Alabama. She then moved to Laurel, Maryland, to work for Goddard Space Center, where she worked as a computer programmer for the Hubble Telescope. Later, she moved to Denver, Colorado, and then to Tampa, Florida, to continue her career before retiring to Florence, Alabama.

There will be a memorial service for Sharon in Florence, Alabama, on Saturday, August 29th, at 1 pm, at Williams Funeral Home at 1950 Helton Drive.

Burial will follow at Tri Center Memorial at 2601 Florence Blvd. Brother Mark Mayfield will be presiding. Her grandson, Dougie White, and her nephews will serve as pallbearers.
