Edward Allen Rice, age 76, of Killen, passed away September 8, 2020. A graveside service will be held Friday, September 11, at 1:00 p.m. at Richardson’s Chapel Cemetery, with Jimmy Shields officiating.
Mr. Rice was preceded in death by his son, Stuart A. Rice; brother, Charles Rice; sister, Sandra Rice; and parents, Allen Rice and Ruby Ann Rice.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Almedia Shields Rice; son, Nathan Rice and wife, Dawn; grandchildren, Brooke Lee and husband, Dab, Charlyn Burgess and husband, Jake, Maezy Rice, Ally Jo Rice, and Neecy Rice; great-granddaughter, Calise Higdon; and sister, Betty Ann Stanley.
Mr. Rice was retired from International Paper and was a veteran of the US Navy. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather; and loved Alabama football. Roll Tide!!
The family would like to express their appreciation to Clearview Cancer Center and North Alabama Medical Center for the loving care they provided.

Ed was a good neighbor to have. Have only been his neighbor for a very few years, but he welcomed my wife and I to the neighborhood when we arrived. He was easy and pleasant to talk to and enjoyed being in his company. He will be greatly missed. Hope one day to have the pleasure to shake his comforting hand again.
Almedia and family. I am so sorry for your loss. I was a teenager when ya’ll moved to Big Oak back in the 70’s. We were not just neighbors, ya’ll became part of our Alabama family and have remained so throughout the years. Praying for strength and comfort for y’all. Love, Amy
