Armstrong


February 13, 1930 - November 13, 2020

Marian Jean Armstrong, age 90, of Florence, passed away November 13, 2020.  Due to the current pandemic, the family is having a private graveside service at Florence City Cemetery.

Ms. Armstrong was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander Larimore George and Emily Whitfield George; and sister-in-law, Roberta George

Survivors include her children, Stephen Robert Armstrong (Margaret), David George Armstrong, Frances Ann Woodruff (Scott); grandchildren, Wade Larimore Armstrong (Mary Jane), Reed Whitfield Armstrong, Liz Woodruff (Hayden) and Daniel Peterman (Kendal); great-grandchildren, Walton George Armstrong, Ava Grace Woodruff and Hayden Brett Woodruff; and brothers, Alex George (Ann Carol) and James W. George.

Ms. Armstrong was a member of Highland Baptist Church.  She was an avid gardener and loved the Atlanta Braves and the Crimson Tide.  She was a devoted mother who loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mars Hill Bible School, 698 Cox Creek Parkway, Florence, AL  35630

  1. I am so sorry for your loss. Marian Jean took such good care of my son when I needed a babysitter when he was young. I will always be grateful for her.

  4. David and family, I remember your Mother from the time we started first grade together. She was a precious lady. I am so sorry for your loss. Please excuse me for sending this note so late, but I missed it in the paper. I know a huge void was created by her loss. Take care of yourselves, and God bless you. You all are in my thoughts and prayers.
