Doris Ann Statom, age 68, of Florence passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023. Memorial service will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023, at First United Methodist Church of Florence.  Visitation will be from 12:00 – 2:00 pm with memorial service immediately following. Past and present students and teachers of FUMC day school are invited to participate in the service.

She is preceded by her husband of 43 years, Jeff Statom and her parents, James and Estelle Doss.

Doris is survived by her children: Gabe Statom, Alison Statom (Brian Murff), and Jamie Statom (Hannah Dunlap).  She has one brother, Charles Doss and one sister, Rachel Watts (Roda). She adored her five grandchildren: Davis VanDyke, Margaret Statom, Jennie Statom, Sarah Statom, and Ellen Statom.

She was a day school teacher at the First United Methodist Church of Florence for thirty-eight years.  She taught several generations of children and looked after them as if they were her own.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in her name to the Lotus Recovery House.
