Betty Catherine Smith Reatherford, age 85, of Florence, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023. Visitation will be Saturday, December 30th, from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon at Mt. Zion Church of Christ. The service will follow at 12:00 noon at the church with Brother Sonny Owens officiating. Burial will be at the adjoining cemetery. Pallbearers will be Donnie Reathford, Kenny Givens, Chris Smith, Wade Smith, Chuck Stevens, and Michael Hargett.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Georgia Smith; husband, Billy Ray Reatherford; son-in-law, Trigg Stone; sisters, Norma Rickard, Shelby Wade, Debra Smith; brother, Aaron Smith.

Survivors are her daughters, Vanessa Moore (Robert) and Amanda Stone; sister, Carolyn Givens (Gene); brothers, Jimmy Smith (Ellen), Ray Smith (Glenda), and Rick Smith (Kathleen); grandchildren, Catie, Kaylan, Garrett, Caleb, and Trevor; great-grandchildren, Tucker, Caitlyn, Leo, Landon, Loxias, Thomas, Atlas, and Hunter.

Catherine was a member of Mt. Zion Church of Christ and was retired with Heritage Christian University. She worked with Project Alabama making handmade garments. Her world revolved around her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren that she loved so dearly.

  3. I’m so sorry to hear about Aunt Cat. I always smile and am filled with so much warmth when I think of all the times being in her kitchen with her or spending an afternoon exploring in her basement.
