Steven Lee
Reding
May 3, 1962 - October 7, 2024
Steve Reding, 62, of Killen, ran into the arms of Jesus and was eternally healed on Monday, October 7, 2024, after an extended illness.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Billy Joe and Betty Reding. He is survived by his loving wife, Pam Surles Reding, daughters, April Vaden (Will), Stephanie Stern (Brian) and son, Chris Reding (Crystal). Two grandchildren, Chris and Madison Vaden, brothers, Jim Reding (Paula), Barry Reding (Michelle), aunt, Carolyn Pennington, and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
Steve was a retired Methodist minister who served the Lord for over 30 years in various parts of North Alabama. He was passionate about his faith, a loving husband, father, and grandad. He touched countless lives in the ministry with his tender heart and beautiful tenor singing voice. Steve truly loved and cared for all his parishioners and still had enough love for his family and friends. His legacy of faith, love, and service will live on in the lives of those who knew and loved him. Steve would want every person reading this to know that Jesus loves you, He died for you, He can transform you and give you eternal life.
The family covets your prayers as we grieve this tremendous loss. God bless you. The celebration of life will be Friday, October 11th at Killen Methodist Church. Pastors Bryan McIntyre, Greg Burnett, and Will Vaden will be conducting the service. Visitation from 11:00-1:00 and service at 1:00. Burial will follow in Butler Cemetery.
The family would like to thank all the many doctors and nurses, too numerous to name, for their loving care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Living Water Shoals Free Methodist Church building fund. Please message the church on Facebook to arrange that. Thank you.

Jim and Paula we are sorry for your loss. May God bless you both. Dee and Kim Wiley
I was saddened to hear the news of Steve having passed away. Our paths have regrettably not crossed in many years, but he and I were both in band and graduated from Decatur High School the same year. Our preacher fathers became friends while serving two neighboring congregations at the same time. His family served at Ninth Street Methodist Church while mine was at Southside Baptist (also located on Ninth Street). Brother Reding would sometimes call Dad if the Methodists needed to “borrow” our baptistry for someone in their congregation who was requesting to be immersed. I am not the least surprised that his son followed him into the ministry, because even as a teenager, Steve was always a very gracious and kind person. Please know of my prayers, sympathy, and gratitude for having known him.
