Charles R. Hunt, age 83, of Florence, passed away Monday, November 11, 2024. Visitation will be Friday, November 15th from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Williams Funeral Home of Florece. The service will follow at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel with Brother Rodney Sparks officiating. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Elizabeth Hunt; wife, Sandra M. Hunt; son, Anthony “Tony” Hunt.
Survivors are his sons, Steve Hunt (Jodie) and Kenneth Hunt (Crystal); numerous grand and great grandchildren.
Charles was employed with Reynolds Metals and was a member of Christian Fellowship Church. In-lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

For Steve and Ken and families. My name is Edward Allen Davis and Chrles Ray was my first cousin, although at times, when we were much younger, we were more like brothers. Aunt Tiny (your grandmother) was my second mother. I am three years older than Charles Ray. Currently, I guess I am considered the patriarch of both the Poague and Davis family since I am the oldest living of our generation. Uncle C. H. and my dad owned a sheet metal shop in Haleyville, AL. from 1947 – 1951. Charles Ray was 6 and I was 9 when both families moved to Haleyville. Both families were back in Florence, AL in the early fifties and were still close. Unfortunately, the last get together that the Poague family had was in February 1958. I was in the Army and on my way overseas to France. I was married and had 3-month-old daughter. I returned from France in June 1959, lived in Florence before moving to Decatur and from that time on our visits were few and far between. My family moved to Murray, KY in 1976 and basically lost contact with both sides of the family. However, I am sorry for your loss. Based on Seth’s comments, Charles Ray was a wonderful person and will be missed greatly. We send our love to your families and may God’s love and comfort be with you both and your families. P.S.
