March 30, 1943 - December 16, 2024
Thomas Aaron Ferguson born March 30, 1943 passed away December 16, 2024.
He was Preceded in death by: His parents, Marie Owen Ferguson and Elmer Ferguson, his sister, Janetta Williams and his nephew, James David Lewis.
He is survived by his spouse, Sherry Nan Hadder Ferguson; daughter, Kathy Lynn Ferguson Burgess (Brian); one granddaughter, Breanna Burgess Remmers (Michael) and two great granddaughters, Madelyn and Sadie Remmers ; sisters, Elizabeth Gossett (Stanley) and Charlotte Leal (Abel); niece, Bonita Gossett and many great nieces and nephews and cousins.
He retired from Russell Coal Company with many fond memories and dear friends. He later worked as a technical consultant for Belzona of North Alabama. He was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and held firm to his belief that there will be a future resurrection by Christ Jesus to life on a paradise earth as God originally purposed for mankind. Although, he was homebound for many years, he faithfully attended the Kingdom Hall meetings via Zoom. Even during his struggles, he shared this future hope with all his visitors.
Before getting sick Thomas enjoyed painting, wood working, and restoring old cars. He was known for working behind the scenes helping others. The family appreciates the many stories our friends and neighbors have related about a time Thomas was there to lend a helping hand. Our thanks to the Affinity Hospice Family for the love and compassionate care he received. In addition, a special thank you to his daily caregiver, Nina Cunningham, who became his close friend and will continue to be a part of our family. Williams Funeral Home will handle the arrangements for a private graveside service for the immediate family. In the future, there will a memorial service via Zoom videoconferencing for the public. In lieu of flowers, friends may choose to make a donation at donate.jw.org. This organization is dedicated to providing worldwide religious and humanitarian activities for people all over the globe.
