Robert (Bobby) Orr, age 78, of Florence, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2024. Visitation will be Sunday, December 29th from 12:00pm-2:00pm at Williams Funeral home of Florence. The service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2:00pm with Brother Kenny Rogers officiating. Pallbearers will be Charles Overton, Troy Gibbs, Wesslee Gibbs, Andy Taylor, Moses Taylor, and Mikey Taylor with honorary Turner Gibbs. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens with full military honors accorded.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Overton Orr; brothers, George Taylor, Junior Taylor, Bill Taylor, Buddy Orr, George Bedwell, and Gene Orr; sisters, Coralee Staggs, and Evelyn English; son in law, Dean Simpson.
Survivors are daughter, Robbie Orr Simpson; sister, Helen Staggs; grandchildren, Troy Gibbs, Wesslee Gibbs (Breonia), Morgan Gibbs Simpson, Jacqueline Ray(Des), and Jacob Simpson; great grandchildren, Turner Gibbs, Willow Gibbs, Addison Gibbs, Bradley Dobbs, and Madison Johnson.
Bobby was a U. S. Army Veteran having served in the Vietnam War. He was an avid Alabama Football fan and loved watching westerns. His hobbies were riding motorcycles, boating and skiing.
A special thanks to a special sitter, Kristi Martin; especially nurse Dale with Amedisys Hospice, and Happier at Home.
