Shook

July 22, 1959 - January 14, 2026

Gregory Scott Shook Born 07/22/1959, passed from this life on January 14, 2026, and now rests in his heavenly home, reunited with those who have gone before him.

Visitation will be on Saturday, January 17th, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Williams Funeral Home of Florence. The service will follow at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Kaleb Jones officiating. Pallbearers will be Roger Freeman, Blair Shook, Connor McGee, Tyler McGee, Deven Shook, Caden “Buck” Shook, and Braxton Shook. Burial will be at North Carolina Church of Christ Cemetery.

Greg was preceded in death by his father, R.L. Shook; his mother, Shelva Jean (Jones) Shook, and his son, Randall Scott Shook.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Blanche Annette (Thomas) Shook; children, Gregory Todd Shook (Erica) and Pamela Alisha Shook (Carrie); siblings, Reginald Lynn Shook (Susan), Connie Shook McGee (Ollie), and Mickey Garth Shook (Pam); 8 Grandchildren.

Greg was blessed with eight grandchildren, each of whom brought him tremendous joy. He loved spending time with them and took great pride in their interests—whether in sports, academics, or dance.

Greg was an avid outdoorsman who found peace and purpose on his farm.

Above all, Greg adored his children and grandchildren. Whether he was cheering at sporting events, listening to stories about dance, taking them hunting on the farm, riding horses with his sons, or raising chickens, he embraced every moment. He enjoyed all that life had to offer, so long as he shared it with them.

Greg inherited his musical talent from his father and found great joy in playing the guitar and fiddle, especially Bluegrass and Southern Gospel music. He was an enthusiastic Alabama football fan, particularly during the fall—and loved spending time outdoors hunting, tending to his blueberry bushes, caring for his goats, and enjoying the loyal companionship of his dog, Tyler.

Greg committed his life to Christ through baptism at the age of 13. In recent years, he renewed his dedication to his faith, leading singing at his church and participating in visitations at area nursing homes for their Sunday services.

He was a devoted member of Center Star Church of Christ in Killen, Alabama.

In-lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) or the Alzheimer’s Association.

The family of Gregory Scott Shook extends heartfelt appreciation to all who offered support, comfort, and care throughout his journey. A special thank you is given to the Amedisys Hospice Team for the love, compassion, and gentle care they provided, ensuring his comfort as he transitioned to his heavenly home.
