Thomas Gus
Bean
May 26, 1936 - October 21, 2025
Thomas Gus Bean, age 89, of Florence, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025.
Visitation will be held Monday, October 27, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home, with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Officiating will be Dwight Holley, Brother Henry Melton, and David Wren. A burial will follow at Greenview Memorial Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Justin Allred, Tony Riley, Larry Ray, Steve Manley, and Travis Powell. Honorary pallbearers are Grant Wilkes and Doug Curtis.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, John and Carrie Bean, and his sister, Mary Katherine Harris.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Jeanette Bean; his children, Pam Ray (Barry Williams) and Scott Bean; granddaughter, Nikki-Dee Ray Wren (David); and great-grandchildren, Thomas Copeland Wren, Windley-Ray Wren, and Ruthie-Bee Wren.
Tom proudly served in the United States Air Force and later retired from Reynolds. He was a dedicated member of Faith Church for over fifty years. Known for his skilled craftsmanship, Tom could build or repair anything, whether made of wood or metal and he spent countless hours in his beloved shop. In earlier years, he enjoyed time with Jeanette, family, and friends on the Tennessee River, where he delighted in teaching others how to waterski. His patience made him a natural teacher and friend.
Tom was a man who loved deeply especially his wife Jeanette, whom he treated like a queen. He was always willing to help others, putting their needs before his own. His relationship with Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life. He began each day with an open Bible reading scripture and a prayer. Tom carried that spirit with him throughout his day. He often spoke of the Lord and never missed an opportunity to ask others about their salvation.
The family would like to thank their friends, Faith Church family, and Southern Care New Beacon Hospice for their love and support.
Tom’s legacy of serving the Lord, doing for others, loving everyone, and helping make heaven crowded will certainly live in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
