Marjorie Ann McGahey Roberts, age 94, of Killen, Alabama and Naples, Florida, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2025, at her Killen residence. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama on November 20, 1930. A Private Graveside Service at the Florence City Cemetery and a Celebration of Life Reception will be held at a later date.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Dr. Shaler Sinclair Roberts, Jr. and her parents Dr. Travis Pratt McGahey and Marjorie Lydia Driver McGahey, Grandparents Forrest Tillman Driver and Mable Elizabeth Higgins Driver and Samuel Franklin McGahey and Laura Jane Hemphill McGahey and First Cousin Arylene McGahey Jones.

Marjorie is survived by two daughters and one son, Marjorie Rawls Roberts ( James Daryl Dodson) of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, USA,  Laura McGahey Roberts Wright of Richmond, Virginia and Shaler Sinclair Roberts, III (Pamela Denise McGee Roberts) of Florence, Alabama; Grandchildren: Martha McGahey Wright Wilson (Charles Berkeley Wilson III), Atlanta, Georgia, Marjorie Driver Dodson, North Palm Beach, Florida, Laura Sinclair Wright Stein (Samson Gabriel Stein), Miami, Florida, Travis McGahey Dodson, San Diego, California, Virginia Maddux Wright, New York, New York, Shaler Sinclair Roberts, IV, Nashville, Tennessee and Ruth Presley Roberts, Washington, District of Columbia; Great Grandchildren: Virginia (Ginny) Fitzhugh Wilson, Atlanta, Georgia, Martha Elizabeth (Lily) Wilson, Atlanta, Georgia, Grace Sinclair Wilson, Atlanta, Georgia; Niece Martha Hubbard Marshall King, Eutaw, Alabama, and Nephew Robert Lee Marshall, Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

After attending Brooke Hill School (now The Altamont School) and graduating from Ramsey High School in Birmingham, Alabama, she graduated from Smith College, Northampton, Massachusetts in 1951 with a degree in Mathematics. She was President of the Kilby School PTA & President of the Muscle Shoals District Service League. She loved golf (including two holes-in-one – at  Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club, Killen, Alabama, and Collier’s Reserve Country Club, Naples, Florida — and a round of golf at the Royal and Ancient in St. Andrews), Bridge, Crossword Puzzles, Dancing, and Travel. She crossed Canada by train, crossed the Atlantic and passed through the Panama Canal, danced at the Tropicana in Havana, and explored France, Italy, Greece, the Dalmatian Coast, England, Scotland, Spain, and Portugal (among other locales) with her husband and children.   She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Florence.

The family would like to specially thank Dr. Lyman Mitchell, Kay Burks, Norris Wood, Donna Payne, the Caregivers of ElderCare Services, and the staff of Amedisys Home Health Care for their loving care, compassion and dedication to our Mother. Williams Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
