Amy Renee Donnelly, age 58 of Florence passed away on January 19, 2026, peacefully at home.  There will be a Celebration of Life held at a future date, and it will be updated here.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Tipper and Jacqueline Holt.

Amy is survived by her husband of 22 years, Marty W. Donnelly. Her children: Heather Nale (Kane), Daniel Wilson, and Candace Grey. A brother Kasey Holt.  And three sisters: Rebecca Lindsey, Carissa Tipper, and Kelly Holt. Seven grandchildren: Brianna and Preston Nale, Amelia Wilson, Danielle Sawyer, Arabella, Kelsey, and Lizzy Collins. Two great-grandchildren, Aubryn and Waylon Sawyer.

Amy is a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. She was a devout Christian who had a deep love for life. She almost always had a smile on her face. She loved her family and was a proud grandmother. She was always up for adventure and loved to travel and ride motorcycles. Music was a big part of her life and she loved to dance. She loved swimming and gardening and her devoted dog Chancey. She was a teacher for Florence City Schools for 25 years. She was awarded the Alabama Commendation Medal for her service to the National Guard.

Her family would like to thank Compassus Hospice for the incredible service they provided. And a special thanks to her monthly girl’s lunch crew.

  1. I am heartbroken at the loss of Amy. Her enthusiasm for teaching was a joy to witness, and I was blessed to spend many delightful evenings playing Bonko with her and our Brandon buddies. Amy will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
