Lonnie “Earl” Gilchrist, age 70, of Florence, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on February 8, 2026. Visitation was held privately.  Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens at 2:00 pm, with Garry Lovett officiating.  Williams Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his birth mother and birth father, Helen Balentine and Ernest Gilchrist. His foster parents (Mom and Dad), Carrie and Oscar Frazier.

Earl is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Debbie Gilchrist. His son Wayne Gilchrist (Lisa), and their four children: Aslan, Lily, Seren, and Kezia. His daughter Alisha Gilchrist and her two daughters: Brianna Gilchrist and Brook Box. His brothers: Jr. Gilchrist and Ralph Frazier. His sisters: Kathy Darby and Shirley Tew.

He had been at home on Hospice care since December 30, 2025, after Health issues. Earl had retired from a long career of painting with Chandler Painting, where he met many friends along the way. He enjoyed bringing laughter to everyone around him and always enjoyed the fun and laughter between him and his wife daily.  And many happy, fun times with his kids, grandkids and extended family whom he cherished. He will be forever missed and cherished. He was saved and baptized many years ago at Eastside Baptist Church.

The family wants to thank Gentiva Hospice of Florence and a very special thank you to his nurse, Katlyn Peters and CNA, Tiara Scott. He always looked forward to seeing them and the chaplain, Garry Lovett and enjoyed his prayers and comforting words.
