Russell Thomas
Romine

July 8, 1982 - February 28, 2023

Russell Thomas Romine, age 40, passed away February 28, 2023.  To know him was to love him.  He had a friendly, out-going personality and was a “ray of sunshine” in the lives of his many friends, co-workers and family.

Russ was a baptized believer in Jesus Christ as his Savior and began his Christian walk actively involved with the youth group at Darby Drive Church of Christ.

A graduate of Mars Hill Bible School, Russ played saxophone in the Rhythm in Blue Band as well as the Jazz Band.  A gifted composer, guitarist, pianist and singer, Russ loved to entertain and share his many talents at family gatherings.  Russ continued his education at the University of North Alabama, where he received a degree in Commercial Music Management.

In addition to his commercial work as an arranger and sound engineer for several bands, Russ enjoyed a successful career as a business analysis manager for a nation-wide cell phone company.

Russ was the beloved grandson of Joe and Martha Romine, deceased, and of Ray and Blanche Campbell, also deceased.  He is survived by his wife, Laura Banes Romine; daughter, Kalli Romine; parents, Thomas and Donna Romine; brother, Brent Romine; in-laws, George and Pam Wade; brother-in-law, Michael Banes (Jenny); and nephews, Hendrix and Coleman Banes.

  1. Russ was a beautiful human being. I got to know him well during his time at T-Mobile and we became like brothers. Any convo I had with him instantly brightened my day. His charm, his smile, and his laugh lit up a room. I was in the process of bringing him back as a contractor so he could be a part of us again. Because we missed him so much. My heart hurts for his family. I love and miss you brother.

  9. Thomas, I was broken hearted to get this news from Tom. When I saw the photo with him playing an instrument, I was taken back to the days when we sang together. I imagine he used his gifts the way you did and touched many hearts. As a mom of three boys, I cannot comprehend the great loss you and your family have experienced in this difficult time. Wish I could have known him. Love, peace and comfort to you all.
