Florence Evelyn Dunagan
Sherrod
April 29, 1928 - March 9, 2023
Our precious mother, Evelyn Dunagan Sherrod, passed on to her heavenly home on Thursday, March 9, 2023. Born in Middletown, Ohio, she was a “Dam Kid” because her father helped build the Paduca, Guntersville, Wheeler and Wilson Dams, so she moved a lot and made friends easily. She met her husband of 72 years, Glenn Sherrod, at Coffee High School where she was a majorette and he played football.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Glenn Sherrod; father, George Cayson Dunagan; mother, Wilda Simpson Dunagan Barley; and brother, Harry Dunagan.
She is survived by her daughters, Connie Forrester (Fred) and Debbie Rogers (Carter); four granddaughters, Kristy Elliott (Clyde), Staci Kolb (Eric), Evan Hunt, and Julia King (Chase); and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mother loved living on Wilson Lake for many years. She was an avid bridge player. She loved the Lord and her family and friends unconditionally.
The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home on Saturday, March 18, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. She will be laid to rest next to Glenn at Florence City Cemetery in a private service.
The family would like to express their appreciation to special friends, Diane Tomlinson, Betty Parker and Sarah Hunt. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice

She was such a sweet lady always had a smile for she will truly be missed Pat White I work at the Renaissance
Evelyn was a lovely lady with the kindest spirit. I loved her dearly, and will truly miss her. She was a true ‘Southern Lady”. We loved to talk about Grammy, and had many laughs together. She and Glenn were the most generous couple.
Sorry for your lost.
