Kathryne “Kay” Bowen Gable, age 97, of Florence, passed away July 15, 2018. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 17, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 18, at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery, Iuka Mississippi, with Richard Alexander officiating. Mrs. Gable was a long-time member of Highland Baptist Church and a charter member of Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club. She and her husband, Walter, owned and operated Gable’s Shoe Store for many years. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Verna Woodall; brother, James “Bubba” Woodall; and sisters, Billie Mae Ryals and Kathleen Bullard. Survivors include her cousins, Janet (Hillory) Wright and Lynn H. Wright; nephews, Bruce (Rita) Ryals, James Ryals and Bill Bullard; great-nephew, Carl Bullard; long-time friends and caregivers, Shirley Rowlett, Altha Caperton and Mark Jaquette; and special friend, Betty Burdine. The family would like to express their appreciation to Mitchell Hollingsworth Station 2, Amedisys Hospice and Home Instead caregivers, especially Pam and Lori Anna. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
