John W. Green Sr., age 89, of Florence, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2020. Visitation will be Monday, June 15, from 12:00 – 12:45 at Spry Williams Funeral Home, with graveside to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens with Jake Barrett officiating.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Ora Hammond Green, parents, Tom & Willie Green.
He is survived by his children: John Green, Jr. (Pam), Lisa Martin (Tom), & Connie Burnett, Grandchildren & Great-Grandchildren: Russ Burnett (Gracie & Sam), Sara Morris (Eric & Zoey), Kayla Barnett (Drew & Wes).

He was the best of the best! Great teacher, solid foundation creator, top notch spoiler, easy listener, just to name a few. He lived a simple life but powerfully impacted others. He was more than a Pappaw. He was a life champion. He was one of my all time strongest role models. I remember as a kid, I used to step on his footprints just to take the same steps as he did. We sat together many times & talked about his life, the times during his childhood & it was the most interesting story he shared. I’m so honored to be part of him & his life. I only hope he saw himself as we did, he was perfect to me. He really excelled in lighting up my world. I will miss him greatly & forever cherish our memories & time spent. Love always. Rest easy. Forever in my heart, always on my mind. God bless
