Derrick Wade “Bo” McMurtrey, age 40, of Killen, passed away Monday, August 3, 2020.  Visitation will be Saturday, August 8, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. with service to follow at 1:00 p.m.  at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Lexington, Al

Bo was preceded in death by his grandfathers William Paul Holden and W.J. McMurtrey; and grandmother, Vernice McMurtrey

Survivors include: parents, Travis Wade McMurtrey and Pam McMurtrey; wife, Rachel White McMurtrey; grandmother, Ethel Holden; sister: Karen Skipworth (Jerrold); niece and nephews Kaitlyn Skipworth, Mitchell Glover, Josh Skipworth and Alexandria Skipworth; and step-children, Taylor White (Leann) and Jake White.

Bo  enjoyed riding 4-wheelers and fishing, but his favorite time was the time he spent with his family.

I was so saddened to hear of Bo passing.i had gotten really close to him while he and Rachel stay with me for a while and he did some work for me.There aren t words to express my sympathy to my niece Rachel and his mother Pam and the rest of the family.Giveing up a loved one is never easy.i pray God will give you all peace and comfort now and in the days ahead.Bo will truly be missed by my family.

  5. Days later and im still sitting here waiting to hear you knock on my door. I walk outside to do my normal stuff and your not there building something, banging or yelling in the backyard, i dont see you walking around with no shirt and your droopy shorts anymore, i cant make those funny comments to you about it…. London also says its a strange feeling that your not here anymore. He misses you. We miss you, I miss my cousin, our friend, our protector. I wish i could have protected you… saved you. You will forever be missed bo. We love you. Rest easy..
