Conrad Riley Pounders, age 85, of Florence, passed away Friday, November 21, 2025. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 25^th from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm at Williams Funeral Home of Florence. The service will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Brother Randy Hargett officiating. Burial will be at Florence City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Irene Pounders, brothers, Harold Pounders, James Pounders, Charles Pounders, Donald Maurice Pounders, and Buford Jackson.

Survivors are his loving wife of 50 years, Brenda Sue Pounders; children, Edward Riley Pounders (Suzanne), Dede Smith Newman (Mark), Jerry Smith (Carla), Connie Wisdom (Marvin), Chris Smith (Gina), and Kelly Ingram (Patrick); grandchildren, Anthony Lambert, Chance Riley Wisdom, Chase Wisdom, Katie Powell, Tyler Michael, Riley Rowe, Clarissa Pounders, Josh Smith, Jacob Smith, Jordan Smith, and Lakin Odell, Corey and Pamela Taylor who gave him 19 greatgrandchildren; nephews, James, Danny, and Andy Pounders; niece, Joie Perkins. Conrad was a member of FOP and the Church of Christ and was employed with Reynolds Metals for over 19 years.

They married in 1976, and daddy had 1 son and 2 daughters. Sue had 1 daughter and 2 sons. They became the Brady Bunch with no Alice. We had our trials and tribulations growing up as a blended family, but we overcame all that and pulled together to take care of our parents till the Lord called them home. Daddy was blessed to have 9 grandsons and 4 granddaughters who in all gave him great-grandchildren. Daddy joined the Lauderdale County sheriffs Department in 1981 under the direction of Sheriff Billy Townsend, who he had the most upheld respect for. Daddy was very dedicated to his job with the county, and he served in many roles such as a deputy, head jailer, investigator, and on the Drug Task Force till his early retirement in 1998. Then he took on the role of occasionally corralling those first few grandsons. This man raised us on and in the water. We had skis, parasail, sleds, kites, and a good ole fashion inner tube to ride. He pulled us all over Happy Hollow and Waterloo in his “Blue Blaze” to Chris-Craft ski boat.
