September 14, 1932 - November 29, 2021

Cleoneke O. Burns, age 89, of Florence, passed away November 29, 2021. A Celebration of Life will be held in the springtime. Williams Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by her father, Chester Mundinger; mother, Ruby Martin; husband of 56 years, Charles (Chuck) W. Burns, Sr.; and sister, Connie Dungan.

Survivors include her children, Shari Sullivan, Charles “Billy” W. Burns, Jr. (Briggette), Gerald “Jerry” Burns (Patti); grandchildren, Rachel Killen, Ryan Sullivan, Douglas Burns, Charles “Trey” W. Burns, III, Scot Sullivan; seven great-grandchildren, Johanna, Beckett, Charlie, Walker James, Saoirse, Ledger and Carter Rhea.

Mrs. Burns grew up in Hamilton, Ohio. She was an original member of the Women’s Air Force and pitcher for the Women’s Air Force fast pitch softball team. She married Chuck Burns in 1952 and raised three children. “Nicky” was an avid golfer and a lifelong athlete. She enjoyed being active outdoors camping, traveling, exploring and evening kayaking with family and friends while living in Colorado well into her 80’s. She was loved deeply by everyone who met her and was considered as a second mom and grandmother by so many. Her legacy will live on through the lives of everyone who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
