Leroy Sonny Berry, age 76, of Florence, passed to his heavenly home on October 27, 2018.  The son of the late Clyde and Alma Berry, Sonny was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother.   

He was a member of Underwood Baptist Church and was fond of telling people that his priorities were God, Family and the Crimson Tide.  His family appreciated that he was such an outstanding role model for them and for the whole community.  He was a truck driver by trade and had a tremendous work ethic.

Sonny leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years, Peggy Berry; children, Teresa Berry, Tim Berry (Mollie), Jennifer Rumble (Chris) and Dwight Berry; grandchildren, Brittany Carlee, Cody Berry (Brittany), Jeremy Groves, Courtney Terry (Blake), Chelsea Rumble, Carissa Rumble (Russ Bowling), Houston Berry and Hayden Teele; great-grandchildren, Braylin Carlee, Kaylin Carlee, Ashton Schneider, Eva Grace Berry and Elsa Clair Berry; siblings, John Berry (Betty), Roy Berry, Louise Kelly, and Nell Darby; and lifelong friend, W. C. Robertson.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 30, at Spry-Williams Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held Wednesday, October 31, at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Doug Farris and Brother John Powell officiating.  Burial will be at Greenview Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Houston Berry, Cody Berry, Hayden Teele, Blake Terry, Russ Bowling and W.C. Robertson.  Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews.   You may sign the guest register at sprywilliams.com

  1. Had the pleasure of seeing this man 3-4 times a week. He was such a blessing to our clinic. He always walked in with a smile!!! He will be greatly missed. Prayers with the family.

  4. I had only got to know Sonny within the last 2 years from work. From the beginning I could sense the Spirit of God in him. I will miss him here on this side of eternity. He was a great blessing. I love forward to seeing him in Heaven.
