Kathie Jane Peeden Woods, age 70, of Florence, entered into her eternal rest on Saturday, May 4, 2019. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 6, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home. The funeral will be Tuesday, May 7, at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Larry Burbank and Richard Alexander, officiating. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Kathie was born July 24, 1948 in Lauderdale County to Edward J. and Ethel Louise Peeden. She dedicated her life to her family and many loving and precious friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, John Edward “Roho” Dobbs; grandparents, Ernest and Louise Cole; and niece, Donna Mix.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Kenneth Carol Woods of Florence; son, Donald David Hinton of Iowa; brother, David Peeden of Florence; sisters, Stella Wray (Charles) of Lawrenceburg, TN, Sharon Thigpen of Florence, Debbie Pierce (Eugene) of Florence, and Carolyn Ayers (Bobby) of Florence; brothers, Kenneth Combs and Tim Combs both of Athens, AL, and Greg Woods (Amy) of Florence; six grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Amedisys Hospice for their care and a special thank you to Amber Herban and Christin Howard whom Kathie loved dearly.

Sending my deepest condolences during this sad time. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you today and always.
God let us have Kathie for a short while to let us see how good, kind, and precious a person can be and then he took her back. There will always be an place in my heart that misses her.
I just found out about Kathies passing. I’m so sorry to hear this. I worked with Kathy at the Lauderdale county Detention center. She also kept my son when he was a baby. She was a great person. My sincere condolences to the family.
I am in Idaho and I just found out about Kathie. She was such a special person and one I was honored to know. Kathie was just GOOD. She was good all the way through. Rest In Peace sweet lady.
