Lance Cpl. Derrick Thirkill, age 21, of Florence, passed away on June 15, 2019 in Beaufort, SC. Visitation will be Monday, June 24, from 12:00 p.m. till 2:00 p.m. at Cross Point Church of Christ. The funeral will follow  at the church at 2:00 p.m. with burial at Tri- Cities Memorial Garden.

Lance Cpl. Derrick Thirkill, was a Semper Fi Marine, Unit MWSD-273, Class of 2016 Florence, Falcon. He was a loving husband and father and friend to so many people.

Survivors include his loving wife Olivia Holt Thirkill; son, Jamie Thirkill; parents, Melvin and Lori Thirkill; brother, Devante Thirkill (Molly Jones).

  1. I had the pleasure of knowing Derrick as a student and also as an athlete during my years teaching and coaching at Florence. He worked hard at everything and was a very respectful and humble young man. His smile could light up the room. The world is better for having Derrick as a part of it. Prayers go out to his family during this tragic and difficult time.
