Joseph Wesley Smith, age 52, of Florence, passed away November 21, 2019.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 27, 2019, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home.

Joey worked for Center Star Body Shop for over 20 years.  He was a loving father, brother and grandfather.  He found the good in everyone.  He had the best looking hair awe…and was 28 forever.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wesley Eugene Smith and  step-son, Brad Norton; brother, Michael Smith; grandparents, Merle and Henry Dawson.

Survivors include his fiancé, Lisa Norton; mother, Linda Smith; children, Paige Smith, Cody Smith, Josie Smith and Wesley Smith; step-children, Lauren Burgess, Brett Burgess and Kayla Weeks; sisters, Karen and Tammy Smith; brother, Kenny Smith; grandchildren, Bryson Smith, Kalea and Kalijah Hollingsworth and Kaleesa Weeks; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Joey,what a damn shame..you left waaay before your time.I remember the first time I saw you and Lisa @the Lake house (Smith Lake ha ha) Lisa squealing at Joseph coming down the steps you you behind…that the dye shirt,infectious smile and that ponytail oh that ponytail! I’ve had one for nearly 50 years but never that GOOD. But from that first moment we made a connection..you’ve been a great friend. I’ve listened to your cd several times and have worn a Jimi shirt, I have several,since the news. My heart is broken,brother…RIP

  7. Sorry to lose a good friend and great family man he loved his family and will be missed dearly. I don’t know him that long but he always had a smile and a hug when we seen each other. RIP my friend.

  8. We have known each other since we were 15 and 15 years old…after all these years you have never changed one bit .. still the sweetest most kind heated guy anyone could have ever known. Always looking for the good in people . Just like you did when we were kids always positive and always smiling and trying to keep everyone else happy and safe. You loved your family and music 🎶 and that was your top priorities.. you loved your friends and we all loved you too !! It is just a shock and like the song says only the good die young. I guess God needed you for something special. You sure will be missed .. but until we all see you again we love ❤️ you ..

  9. We are saddened by the loss and send Condolences to family and friends of this kind , always smiling , soft spoken man. He was a daily customer and we will miss his smiling face . Such a great loss for all who knew him.
