Doris Goode Butler, age 94, of Rogersville, passed away September 7, 2020. A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 10, at 1:00 p.m. at Butler Cemetery, with Brother David Cofield officiating.

Mrs. Butler was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ernest Butler; daughter, Sherry Thomas; grandson, Tory Nichols; great-granddaughter, Stacey Staggs; and great-great grandson, Jusiah.

Survivors include her children, Rickey Butler (Patsy), Randy Butler (Becky), Cindy Hollandsworth (Michael), and Robert Butler (Susan); grandchildren, Jeremy Nichols, Dana Powers, Richard Butler, Tanya Cook, Kristi Henson, Seana Starkey, Emmy Lou Eubanks, Joseph Tully, Jodi Ridgeway, Brian Butler, Jessica Chowning, Alisha Crunk and Amanda Irons; great-grandchildren, Chad Nichols, Trent Nichols, Tosha Snider, Brittany Eash, Zachary Nichols, Cassie Nichols, Danielle Staggs, Hannah Cook, Rachel Cook, Randy Paul Nesmith, Cora Henson, Eli Henson, Kaiya Butler, Sean Starkey, Seth Starkey, Sadie Eubanks, Emily Beth Eubanks, A.J. Tully, Addy Tully, Kaitlyn Ridgeway, Lila Grace Ridgeway, Logan Ridgeway, Weylin Butler, Caleb Crunk, Lizzie Crunk, Braylee Irons, Korrie Irons, Blake Irons, and Bailey-Reed Cates; great-great grandchildren, Izaiah, Elijah, Makenzie, Billy Paul, Ezekiah, Selah, Oliver, Kaylee, Myah and two on the way; numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Kay Hill.

“Mama Doris”, as she was affectionately known to family and friends, loved life and loved people. She was always ready with a hug and kiss. She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Clearview Cancer Institute for their loving care.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens’ Research Hospital or to the Shriners’ Hospital for Children.

  3. I have lots of fond memories with the Ernest and Doris Butler family. Distance separated us, but Aunt Doris was thought of often and still will be.
