V. Glen
Bobo

December 9, 1944 - November 14, 2022

Glen Bobo, 77, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on November 14, 2022. He was born in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee on December 9, 1944, to the late John and Edith Bobo, most recently of Florence, Alabama. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Judy, their two children, Sandi Hutchison (William) and David (Cindy), four grandchildren, Mindi Martin (Adam), Tanner McCartney (Becca), Carson, and Dylan, and two great grandchildren, Berr and Truli Martin. He is also survived by his five sisters, Marie Borden (Bobby d.), Peggy Berry (Allen), Patty Burt, Emma Posey (Paul), Pam Volz (David), and many nieces and nephews. He was well-loved and he will be greatly missed.

Glen Bobo was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, and had many accomplishments during his life. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy and was an ordained Baptist minister for 50+ years. He pastored numerous churches in northern Alabama and southern Tennessee and believed being a minister and spreading the gospel was his true calling. He was a Lt. Colonel in Civil Air Patrol and served as a chaplain. He was an elected Constable and served in Warren County, Tennessee. He also served as a chaplain in the Huntsville Police Department and served as the director of his community’s neighborhood watch.

He understood the value of hard work and was a tradesman. He was a master plumber and established a successful plumbing business and operated it for many years until retirement. He helped build numerous houses, buildings and structures. He enjoyed making whatever he needed, taking care of his house and yard, fishing, studying the Bible, and reading. He was always interested in the history of our nation, its wars, and its leadership.

He lived his life in a generous way, always helping others. His family remembers him running into a burning home of strangers to rescue whatever he could. He found an injured hawk in the woods and brought it home to nurse back to health. He has rescued so many various animals over the years. He and Judy took care of her father, Clarence Berryman, in their home in his last years. It was not unusual for Glen to offer his expert labor at plumbing and carpentry at no charge, while pastoring and working additional hours to support his own family. He set an incredible example to his family of honesty and integrity. He lived his beliefs, never working on Sunday, never cursing, and was a Christian leader who made the world a better place. He will be greatly missed, but we rejoice as he is welcomed into his heavenly home.

  1. I saw some scrap wood a neighbor placed out by the street for pick up today when I walked my dog in your neighborhood. I thought I’d go tell you and you’d drive your Jeep over and get it to finish some project or burn in your fireplace. I love you!

  2. Mom and I were saying how you used to fix up scrap bikes and give them to kids for free. We remembered that kid in your old neighborhood knocking on your door and asking mom if Mr. Bobo could come out. We were talking about that time you patched a bunch of basketballs and you and Tanner put them in the back of your truck and drove down the street tossing them out to the kids playing in the neighborhood.

  3. Mom and I were talking about how you’d pick up broken bikes that were set out for trash and fix them up and give them to kids for free. We remembered you patched up
a bunch of basketballs and inflated them and you and Tanner put them
In the back of your truck and went down the street to where a lot of kids were playing and threw out the balls to them.

  4. I was thinking about how much I appreciate you teaching me I could do whatever I put my mind to doing. I came up with an idea for a bookshelf with a certain magazine rack on the end for my children. You built it. You didn’t act like it was hard or ridiculous or couldn’t be done. I made up a certain computer desk with a pull out keyboard drawer, when that was a new-ish idea, that was modified for my space requirements. You built it. I made up a toy chest on wheels that had a waterfall seat on top. You built it. I wanted a built-in bookshelf with a window seat at one house. You and Grandpa built it. You built me a wrap around floor to ceiling built in bookshelf at another house. I appreciate all of those things. Mostly, though, I really love how you never told me it was not going to work or shouldn’t be that way. You just made it happen. Thanks, Dad. I love you so much.

  5. Sending our deepest condolences to Mr Bobo’s family. We met through dialysis and he was the sweetest man. I loved his joking spirit and miss seeing him every week. he brought a couple of us his “stool” samples. ( A doll furniture stool in a medicine cup. ) and He gave me Knick knack cats, because he knew I loved them. He always had a kind word to say and even when he didn’t feel well, he had his smile. We will miss taking care of him. Know he was loved by us.
