Annie Jean “Ann” Smitherman age 83 of Florence passed from this life on November 5, 2023.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday November 8, 2023, from 12 noon till 1:30 pm at Williams Funeral Home of Florence.  Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm at Hickory Flat Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, 6144 County Road 71, Lexington, Alabama. Officiating will be Vince Lindsey.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edward L. Smitherman, her parents Frank and Pauline White and two brothers, Hugh and Dave White.

Ann is survived by her son, William Chad Smitherman, two daughters Lisa Smitherman Cochran (Bill) and Kim Smitherman McKenzie (Keith). One brother Doty White and one sister Clarice White Johnson (Randy). Five Grandchildren Seth Wix, Anna Wix Springer, Karly Cochran, Kyle Cochran and Cheyenne Smitherman.  As well as numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Ann was a member of St. James United Methodist Church.  She graduated from Colbert County High School.  She was an excellent seamstress and loved sewing and gardening.  As a widow in her early thirties, she raised three children.  She was strong, independent, humble and an excellent money manager who always made sure her children’s needs were met.
