Norma Arminta Jaynes Bass, age 88, of Florence, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2024. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Williams Funeral Home of Florence from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Services will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Brother Dwayne McDuff officiating. The burial will be at Center Star Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mike Rickard, Phillip Gambrell, Jim Cassel, Jeff Cornelius, Danny Watson, and Aegan Marquardt.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Bass Sr.; parents, William Levy and Georgia Etta Jaynes; brothers, Harold Elmond Jaynes and Charles Everett Jaynes; and stepmother, Mae Ola Chapman.

Mrs. Bass is survived by her children, Laney Renee Price (Keith) and James Robert Bass Jr. (Crystal); grandchildren, Kayla Dalton (Christopher), Matt Price (Amanda), Jessica Phillips (Hunter), Jennifer Bass, and Jaden Bass; great-grandchildren, Emmalee Bass, Katelynn Bass, Brodie Price, Brock Price, and Anna Blayke Price.

Mrs. Bass was a devoted Christian, serving in many aspects, and was the last charter member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She retired from Southern Ready Mix. She volunteered at Safe Place for many years and made deliveries for Meals on Wheels. She was known and beloved by many. The family thought she was an angel walking on earth.

The family would like to express a very special thank you to Compasses Hospice and her dear friend, Connie Arnold. Also, thank you to Elaine Dunn, Ginger Stone, Peggy Davis, and Brother Dwayne McDuff.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Meals on Wheels, The First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, or Safe Place.

  1. I loved Ms. Nor.a very much! When I was at Safeplace Ms.Norma created me to be the the pen snob I am now!! Anytime she found a new pen she was sure to share one with me. Anything I everneeded or mentioned she would somehow always come up with it! She will be missed by me and so many.

  2. We loved Norma for many years. She was a special lady to many! Norma will be missed! Love to the family!
