Christopher “Chris” Chaney, age 45, of Florence, passed away Friday, January 12, 2024. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 23rd, from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm at Williams Funeral Home of Florence. The service will follow at 12:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Avon White officiating. Burial will be at Milford Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Trevor Chaney, Travis Young, JR Young, Jason Young, Jr., Cassidy King, Tyler Russell, and Eric Young. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Elliott, Brad Elliott, Lee Hill, and John Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert “Bob” Young, Lorene and Wade Shook; paternal grandparents, Leon and Edna Chaney; aunts and uncles, Mike and Wanda Roberts, Jimmy Young, Sr., Mickey Young, Jerry Young, and Rodrick and Rosa Lee Young; cousin, Jessica Young.
Survivors are his parents, Leroy and Sherry Chaney; sister, Heather Chaney; nephew, Trevor Chaney; niece, Kinsley Musgrave. A special friend Anita, whom he loved dearly.
Chris had a close relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He loved fishing, Alabama football, Joe Patterson novels, and golf. He was always smiling and laughing. His niece and nephew was the joy of his life and loved them dearly. A special thanks to all family and friends for all their love and support, all advocates for their support during this time, especially Rhonda Anderson, Eddie Burkhalter and Lauren Faraino, and Pike County Road Department.

Sherry, I’m so sorry. What do you say to someone who has devoted their life to comforting people in times like this? You are one amazing lady & you & your family don’t deserve this. Child should never go before a parent, but We serve a just God. A God who promises to be closest to the brokenhearted. Chris is free! Not the free anyone wanted.
