Marilyn Louise Broman Tallman, age 98, of Florence, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2024. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 9th from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm at First United Methodist Church of Florence. The service will follow at 1:00 pm with Dr. Terry Stubblefield officiating. A private burial will be at Greenview Memorial Park.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Cora Broman; husband, Daniel Culler Tallman; daughter, Lyn Susan Tallman Murphy; brother George Ellis Broman Jr.

Survivors are her children, Douglas P. Tallman (Debbie) and Anne Tallman Davis (Michael); 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Marilyn was born in Decatur, Illinois and raised in Chicago and St. Louis. She graduated from Washington University, moved to Florence, Alabama in 1949 where she helped Daniel start the family business.

She was active in the community where she served as President of the Service League and Kennedy Douglass Art Center. She also volunteered for the Salvation Army Empty Stocking Program, supported the Florence Public Library, Shoals Symphony, and an active member of the Institute for Learning for Retirement.

From the time they moved to Florence, Marilyn belonged to the First United Methodist Church where she has been active teaching Sunday School, playing piano for classes and the Vivian Davis Bible Study.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and will be greatly missed.

In-lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Florence. Florence Public Library or charity of your choice. A special thanks to Eldercare, First United Methodist Church staff for their love and care.
