Sam Jones Anderson, Jr., 71, of Florence, passed away June 20, 2025. Visitation will be Sunday, June 22 at Williams Funeral Home from 2:00-3:00 pm. The service will start at 3:00 pm in the chapel with Ronny Jones officiating and burial will follow in Blue Water Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Don Anderson, Guy Carter, Bobby Gautney, Tony Hendon, Jeremiah Jones, and Garrett Thorne. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Josh Jones, Chris Anderson, and Justin Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Elaine Anderson; mother, Elizabeth Anderson; father, Sam Anderson, Sr., sister, Betty Yarborough; and brother, Billy Don Anderson.
Sam is survived by his children Julie Cooper (Anthony) and Scott Thorne (Sondra); siblings, Barbara Dunlap and Neil Anderson; grandchildren, Garrett Thorne, Madalyn Cooper; and special sister-in-law, Molly Jones (Tom).
Sam was a US Army Veteran for thirty-eight years. He was a Sergeant first class in the 115th Signal Battalion and served admirably in the Iraq war. He was a staunch supporter of Wounded Warriors as well as a proponent of the Shriners. Sam was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.
In lieu of flowers, you may donate to The Wounded Warrior Project or Tunnel to Towers.

What a beautiful pair Sam you and Pat were. Each there for each other. A blended family so special. I prayed often for you both to get well ❤️🩹. Precious children and grandchildren. Gone so soon so close in time together. Eternally forever. No more pain no more sickness . I love you Pat and Sam. May god comfort your children grandchildren family and friends. Such a friendly fun family together making beautiful memories to leave behind. My friend Pat always laughing anytime we were together.
